Senior members of the
faculty provide reliable academic leadership to the
junior teachers in the school. Teachers have freedom to
form their own questions in the exams to elicit
appropriate response from his class. However, in each
department, some thought provoking questions/past papers
on different topics in different subjects are dully
catalogued in the library for the use and
guidance of the junior staff.
Standard of making of the
examination scripts occupies a pivotal position.
Uniformity of standard and careful marking of answer
sheets are maintained. Common errors are discussed in
the class with a reasonable spectrum which aims to
encourage originality of thought and expression.
Assessment of teacher’s
work is monitored by the HM/DHM regularly. (Please see
Appendix E). |
Measures taken to improve academics:
|
Over the last three years 15 teachers have either been
weeded out, have left as they were unable to cope with
the pressure put on them in the new administrative set
up or went abroad for better prospects.
Experienced teachers who had been teaching O/A levels
were hired. These teachers were teaching in well known
Public Schools or Grammar Schools like Frobels, Army
Burn Hall School Abbottabad, Abbottabad public School
etc. We have two foreign qualified teachers as well.
Only teachers who have themselves done their A levels or
have had experience of teaching A/O levels are being
inducted now.
Remedial classes are being held on a regular basis. Weak
students are made to attend the remedial classes.
However students who want to improve their grades also
join the classes.
Lesson plans are being made by all teachers. These are
kept in the Library. All teachers have access to them
and benefit from them.
Academics continue to be monitored at every stage.
Homework, weekly assessment grades, monthly monitoring
grades, class observations, Departmental meetings are
all part of the monitoring process.
Teachers are made to attend professional development
workshops conducted by the British Council (Both
Cambridge University & London University) Pakistan
Education Quality Control, City School in collaboration
with University of Strathslyde. Advanced students
Programme. Along with this in service teachers training
workshops are held on the campus. Experienced teachers
who have made their name in the field of Education are
invited to the School to conduct these workshops |
