Rules & Regulations
CBS Rules are
designed first of all, to ensure the safety of pupils
and other members of community, secondly to ensure that
the community life or the welfare of other pupils is not
jeopardized by the anti social behavior of individuals;
and thirdly to instill practice of courtesy and good
manner. These rules and regulations may be amended or
additionally incorporated at any time.
1.
Pastoral:
-
“Developing a constructive atmosphere in Houses,
Classes and throughout the School”
-
The atmosphere should be healthy, with an
emphasis on Co-operation and support of all
members of community.
We should aim to create and maintain a happy
environment.
-
Staff should correct even minor infringement of
improper behaviour and should do so consistently
with pupils and
among each other.
-
Staff should set an example in all respect.
-
The normal order
of dealing of interaction will be, Teacher-
Class Teacher- Head of Department- Housemaster-
Senior Master- Vice Principal and Principal.

2.
Emotional Problems:
-
All Teachers should be aware of difficulties
likely to be faced by pupils from home, many for
first time,
especially
homesickness and should do their best to help
pupils overcome them.
-
The role of Housemasters, Personal Tutors, Class
Teachers and Matrons is particularly
important in this
respect and there should be regular
communication between all concerned when
problems arise.
-
All Teachers
particularly Housemasters, House Tutors and
Class Teachers must be on guard
against bullying
of any kind. This will be regarded as a very
serious matter, leading quickly to expulsion if
persisted with. We should work towards an
atmosphere of harmony and mutual assistance.

3.
Leadership and
Responsibilities:
Seniors including AODs, House Captains, House Prefects,
Deputy Head Boy and Head Boy will be expected
(and
indeed this would be a major part of their education) to
take a formal lead, and where ever needed
extend
cooperation / guidance in the following areas
-
Social Services
-
Sports
-
Cultural Activities
-
Maintaining discipline in the Houses and School
-
Possibly some tutoring in Academic Subjects
|
A very high standard of behaviour and effort will be
expected from them.
4.
Safety Rules:
-
Pupils are allowed to
visit the following areas:
-
The Boarding Houses
-
The Academic Buildings
-
The Sports Fields
-
The Swimming Pool and Squash
Courts (at the time allowed for visit)
-
The Market (at the time
allowed for visit)
-
The Mosque (during the
prayers timings mentioned in the Daily Routine)
-
The Following
places
are always out of Bounds
-
All Roofs
-
All Electrical Pylons
-
Telephone Poles
-
The area around tube wells
-
Staff houses
-
Hostel kitchens
-
No pupil will meddle with
electrical equipment: in the event of defect, a member
of staff must be informed immediately.
-
After dinner all pupils
must remain in their Boarding Houses except when led by
a member of the staff to a Cultural Activities.
-
Knives or Weapons of any
kind are forbidden.

5.
Rules & Regulations:
-
Pupils
should walk along paths between the Boarding
Houses and Academic Buildings and not cut across
lawns.
-
The
possession or use of cigarettes, illegal drugs
or pornographic materials, weapons of any kind
will lead to expulsion. This applies equally to
School activities off the Campus, at any time
during the term.
-
Pupils
are not allowed to bring to school, radio/
walkman, mobiles, TV set, personal computer,
unusually valuable items such as expensive
watches and i-pods.
-
Pupils
may bring their own cricket bat, hockey stick,
tennis, squash or badminton racquets or Musical
instruments.
-
No
pupil should be in possession of cash while in
school. Cash must be deposited with the
Housemaster and purchases from the market made
with the requisition slips obtained from the
Matrons. If any cash is found with a student, it
will be confiscated.

Pupils must respect:

Each other
-
All members of Staff
-
All School employees and
their families and visitors to the Campus.
-
All visitors and parents
of other students.
-
Senior pupils
(from Grade 10-13) are not allowed to enter the
dormitories of junior pupils (from Grade 6-9)
-
Junior pupils are not
allowed to enter the dormitories of senior pupils
-
Pupils should not leave their rooms after lights
out
-
Theft will not be tolerated. A student is liable
to be suspended/ expelled.
-
Damaging school property
may lead to suspension/ expulsion
-
There will be no climbing
of trees.

6.
Parents:
-
Maximum good contact
should be maintained with parents, especially
Housemaster, House / Personal Tutor and Class
Teacher.
-
Parents will be allowed to
visit the School at any time by appointment to
discuss a child progress / problem.
-
Parents will be encouraged
to discuss the academic and other problems of their
children in scheduled Parents-Teacher Meeting
and on Sundays afternoons as they are allowed to
visit the School from 12:30 to 05:00 p.m on
every Sunday.
-
They will be allowed to
visit the dormitories for a short time. Parents will
not eat or sleep in dorms.
-
No Parent/ Guardian/
Visitor is allowed to enter the Campus area with
arms and ammunition.
-
Housemasters/ House
Tutors and Class Teachers will encourage students of
their House/ Class to write letters to their
parents/ relatives/ friends and will help by
collecting letters in class or letter writing Toye
Time and passing them to the School messenger.

7.
Leave
-
Parents may take a boy
from the campus only on Exeat or authorized
weekends. If a parent wishes another individual to
collect a boy from the School, the school must
receive permission in writing at least three days in
advance. Guardian will be asked to prove his/.her
identity if he/she is not already known to the
School Staff.
-
Leave will be granted
only in case of serious family emergencies or for
the marriage of brothers and sisters.

8.
Punishment for
Appointment Holders
An appointment
holder will be treated as other student regarding
general discipline and conduct. He will be removed from
the appointment for the breach of any of the following.
-
Misuse of his authority
-
Inefficiency
-
Negligence of duties
-
Poor academic performance
-
Misconduct – disobedience of orders.

9.
Duties and Responsibilities of School Prefects
-
To maintain discipline
among students at all places especially at school
functions, debates, dramas and sports activities.
-
To see that the students
return promptly to their respective classes after
morning Assembly and after each interval.
-
To ensure that students
attend morning P.T., and drill, if necessary
-
To see that the students
observe the School Rules and Regulations
-
To carry out any other
duty as may be entrusted to them by their
Housemasters/ Matrons
-
To remain in close
touch with their Housemasters and seek their
guidance in all House matters.

10.
Educational Trips / Excursions
-
Consent of the parents
will be sought prior to sending the boys on any trip
/ excursion.
-
After consulting the
parents, Housemaster will countersign before the
students leave for trip.
-
The school does not
accept any responsibility regarding any accident,
casualty or loss of any student on way to and / or
from school and during the trip.

11.
Breach of Rules and
Punishments
-
Following lapses are
punishable with warning and fine:

Neglecting home work

Missing / coming late to class

Late for School functions /

Disturbing other students
during class / Toye

Lending or borrowing exercise
books for copying home work

Eating / drinking /

misdemeanours are
punishable with warning / extra drill and fine:

Improper turn out

Untidiness of the area

Failing to obey a lawful order

Non-observance of lighting

Unauthorized stay in the
Houses during working hours.

Overstay after
vacations/breaks/leaves

Yellow Cards

Fighting / scuffling with
another boy

Using threatening or abusive
language against another student

Bunking classes without any
reason

Missing Friday or Maghrib
Prayer

Wilfully missing the morning
assembly

Misbehaving with a lower staff
member

Continuous two Sunday Academic
detentions

Keeping mobile / sim card and
electric gadgets

Driving vehicles on the
campus

Following lapses are punishable by suspension

Award of two Yellow cards in
an academic year

Indulging in physically
fighting with fellow students.

Smoking (or even expulsion)

Refusal to comply with the
instructions of the House Master

Theft

Wilfully abstaining from PT,
Classes, Games or any other activity of the daily
routine

Wilfully avoiding any
examination or tests

Leaving school campus
without the permission of the school authorities.

Serious offence that may lead to expulsion

Using unfair means in the
Examination

Stealing – second offence

Involvement in immoral
activities

Insolent
behaviour towards any
staff member

Use of any intoxicant /
smoking

Keeping weapons / fire arms on
the campus

Conduct unbecoming of CBStian
inside / outside the school campus

20 days Continuous absence
from School without leave

Disobedience of orders / instruction issued
by Principal, Vice Principal, Senior
Master, House Master or any other member of
Teaching Staff

Wilful damage to the
school property

12.
Rules Concerning Medical Cover
-
The School will have the
authority to conduct blood-tests when ever desired
by the Senior Resident Medical Officer.
-
The parents authorize the
school management in case of emergency operation or
treatment outside the Chand Bagh School.
-
The School will do it
utmost to provide the best medical care. However,
the School will not be held responsible in case of
any mishap.
-
The Students are not
allowed to keep medicines with them. Prescribed
medicine by SRMO will be given to the Matrons
concerned who will give it to the boys accordingly.

Note:
The decision of the Principal is final in all matters
pertaining to discipline and will not lie challenged in
any court of law.
